The ultimate goal is to re-use existing source container timecodes though. mkvmerge recalculates timecodes for some audio codecs but not for others. The resulting files are 100% spec compliant, and as all header info is always referred to frame a seekhead entry at the start of the file playback should not suffer at all (the only exception is if you want to stream the resulting file over a non-seekable channel).Ībout the timecodes: You're partially right. Fragmentation? I don't remember such an argument.
